I'm a Flip-Flopper...Thanks to HISTORY

Yep,

I must admit to my lack of relying on History to keep me from making the same mistakes made in the past.

I am, of course, speaking here of the current squatter at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue's declarations concerning ARRESTING any in Congress who would DARE pass legislation limiting the powers his puppets, (Frist, Hasstert, Santorum, et.al) expanded to give him during Bush's reign as President of the U.S.

Let's all take a trip down that rosy and VERY informative path created by HISTORY...you know, the tales of those who came before us and SHOULD have been honored for the lessons they fought so we should not have to fight as well!

1776...Thomas Jefferson...a wise man who knew the power of words...carefully penned the basis for the then DREAMED about...still to fight for...democratic Country that so many would die for. In 1776 King George III of England, a 16 year old with delusions of grandeur, decided it was OK to make those little-tin-butt-kissers-across-the-pond, to pay and pay for the extravagant excesses of his monarchy's chosen ones.

This is the SAME King George who would be diagnosed after MUCH blood-letting...(you have to wonder about a system that thought bleeding a person out was SANE medical practice. Didn't they remember how the Egyptians and Greeks performed medical procedures back in the days of Cleopatra and the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates?)...insane!

King George the Third declared the American's resistant to his Stamp Act and Tea Tax as bugs to be crushed beneath his ermine lined pantyhose.

But the funny thing about bugs...they may be small...and they may seem insignificant, but bugs, not humans, have survived global catastrophes without fail. Mankind? Dinosaurs? They haven't been so lucky.

The Revolutionary War Bugs fought for their independence against the tyranny placed into motion by Crazy King George.

The War against Crazy George, sufferer of PORPHYRIA was defeated! His loyal WHIGS could not stem the tide fought by the tenacious bugs he so heartily disdained.

America was now a free nation.

The nation went to another George...Washington, and offered him a kingship, but he wisely declined arguing that Americans had fought to rid themselves of monarch rule, not to recreate it.

With the sage advice and input of some of the smartest people of that time, the CONSTITUTION was written, ratified, and placed into law.

George Washington...George the First?

George Bush...DADDY BUSH...George the Second?

George Dubya Bush...Sonny Bush...George the Third?

It would seem that history is repeating itself. This George thinks he should have autocratic dominion over ALL he sees. Congress? Just a nuisance that he has to CRUSH.

There was a time...right after 9/11, when I flipped from my original opinion of Dubya...(The minute he threw his hat into the race for President, I knew if he won we were going to war with Iraq.) I was not aware of Dubya's Deer-Caught-In-Headlights-Panic sitting in that elementary school room on 9/11 until Michael Moore's documentary was released. So, I judged Dubya based on what I saw on my TV screen. I BELIEVED Dubya when he looked into the camera and told us that Iraq had acquired the tools needed to make WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. I CHEERED when the bombs began exploding upon Sadaam's stronghold. Every day I eagerly sat before my TV CERTAIN the next cache our troops uncovered would be the long-awaited-for proof of those WMDs. I wanted, despite its ego-stroking inanity, the speech Bush gave beneath the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED sign to be true.

But alas, it is 2007. Dubya's illegal acts have mushroomed to the point where there can be no doubt but that Bush truly sees himself as a KING who can send to his dungeon anyone he wants, even those who are charged by the Constitution to create the laws and bring oversight to the ever-expanding egos of ANYONE elected by the people WHO reside in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. He wants to PUNISH the Legislative Bracnh because they FINALLY mean to do what our Country's Forefather's KNEW to be the BEST way INSURES that we have a government for-the-people-by-the-people....not for the KING and his few favored minions.

I'm a flip-flopper. I placed my trust in Dubya after 9/11 despite my premonitions about going to war against Iraq should he win...(And this premonition came back in 1999...TWO full years before 9/11.)...I was duped. AMERICA WAS DUPED and the sad thing is we had all the warnings we need...right within the text of our History Books.

Porphyria drove King George III into the darkness of insanity, I wonder, though, since he never made a video...if he consulted the Royal Hound about taxes. It would certainly explain his decision to lay the burden of his extravagance upon those an ocean away and expect them to happily lap at his regal-across-the-Great-Atlantic-Ocean-hand while he took unfairly from the labors of their hard work.

No, we do not have such a video from the monarch of 1776. We DO have a video, PROUDLY recorded by THIS would-be King, of HIM consulting the FIRST-DOG about a trivial subject...the ECONOMY...

Ergo...

History cannot be denied. Can it?
