Like a Good Neighbor...Barf Bags Are There?

I am trying very hard to pry my jaw up from the floor!

I heard it on the news, but felt certain the wax in my ears must have reached a depth comparable to the waxy-yellow build-up from the commercials of old. But NO...Later on Countdown with Keith Olberman on MSNBC, Keith confirmed what my slack-jawed reaction had reacted to.

The Madison Avenue ad wackos had REALLY slipped into the depths of marketing swampland. I don't know about you, but having corporate ads placed on air-sickness Barf Bags seems...oh...I don't know....STUPID!!!

Think about it. You're sitting in your seat, nervously trying NOT to seem nervous, mentally chastising the Dramamine you took for not quelling the spiraling nausea inside your belly when the plane catapults into the upper ranges of the atmosphere---and your stomach wants to join it.

Gulping against the inevitable expulsion of what seems to be every meal you've consumed since you left your mother's womb, you reach for the air-sickness bag supplied by the airline. Do you, as you wrest the spring loaded lips apart of this delightfully designed bag, take note of the displayed corporate logo and think to yourself..."Hmmm...Bank of America is offering free checking and a toaster to all new depositors?" NOT ME!!! I'm too busy losing my cookies.

O.K...so maybe AFTER all the bile my battered innards can spew into the daringly imprinted bag and my hands are shakingly sealing up the offending proof of my internal unrest, I'll take note of the Barf Bag's corporate sponsor and think, "How nice that Allstate thought so much of us sufferers that they decided to entertain us...sorta like reading a magazine while in the john?"

NOPE!!! When you need to barf, reading a snazzily placed ad on your bucket, or your air-sickness bag is NOT going to happen. SO what does that say about the media genius who came up with this idea?

STUPID!!!!

Corporate America you have slithered to a NEW LOW!!! But then again maybe State Farm, Allstate, Senator John Q. Public, and Viagra BELONG on Barf Bags!!!
